Administrator area - Configuration

My Store

Here you can specify your store's address, contact information, and some important settings for the Catalog Area, including:

  • "E-Mail From"
Here you can specify the sender's name that will be shown in the outgoing messages.
  • "Zone"
Here you can specify the zone where your store is located. This parameter is necessary for tax calculation purposes.
  • "Use Search-Engine Safe URLs"
This option allows to change the page numbering scheme of the store's website for easier indexing by search systems (crawlers, spiders), such as Google.

"Minimum Values" and "Maximum Values"

Here you can specify the valid range for the sizes of input and output data - for instance, minimum allowable string length for the "First Name" and "Last Name" fields when registering a user, or maximum quantity of products displayed in the "Best Sellers" section.

Images

Here you can specify the image display settings for products, subcategories and headers. If image sizes are different, you may delete all symbols from the "width" field. Then the width of each image will be calculated by a preset height.

Customer Details

Here you can list optional parameters, which will be stored in the accounts of registered customers.

Shipping/Packaging

Here you should specify the shipping system's settings. For instance, weight of a package taken into account when calculating the shipping cost, is determined by such values as "Package Tare weight", "Larger packages - percentage increase" (percentagewise, a value between 0 and 100) and w (weight of the order). To the weight of the order (w) you need to add a value equal to the greater of the two values:

  1. Package Tare weight
  2. w * 'Larger packages - percentage increase' / 100

"Maximum Package Weight" determines the portions into which the order will be broken, if its weight is too large.

Product Listing

Here you may specify which product information will be displayed when you browse the contents of the catalog categories.

Stock

Here you can specify how and when ExtCart system should change information about the products in stock. The "Stock Re-order level" option is not used.

Logging

Here you can enable log maintenance. This functionality is primarily intended for developers.

E-Mail Options

Here you can specify the e-mail settings.

  • "E-Mail Linefeeds" - sets a character string that indicates end of line.

Set to "CRLF", if "E-Mail Transport Method" is set to "SMTP"; or set to "LF", if "E-Mail Transport Method" is set to "sendmail".

  • "Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails" - enables use of HTML format in email messages. In this case end-of-line characters are replaced with <br> tags, images are inserted in the body of the message, rather than sent as attachments. Other options are also available. For compatibility reasons it's recommended to send messages in text format.
  • "Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS" - enables email address verification through DNS service. To use this option, the host server should allow such requests.
  • "Send E-Mails" - allows temporary prohibition on sending email messages to customers, eg. in test mode.

Download

Here you can specify settings for digital products that may be downloaded after purchase.

  • Download by redirect" - allows to specify file names for downloadable products. This option works with UNIX file systems only.
  • "Maximum number of downloads" - limits the number of attempts to download a product.

GZip Compression

Here you can enable compression of pages sent from the server to clients (browsers). This allows to speed up site navigation. This option works only if your hosting provider uses Apache web server with installed mod_gzip module.

Sessions

Here you can specify session settings. Sessions store temporary information about users, when they are visiting the site. Session content may be stored in files on disk or in a database.

  • "Session Directory" - specifies the location for storing session files on disk, when sessions are stored in files on disk.
  • "Force Cookie Use" - if you use this setting, the customer will not be able to buy products and change his/her personal account-related details, if cookies are disabled in his browser.
  • "Check SSL Session ID" - enable/disable checks of SESSION_SSL_ID variable prior to sending each secure page.
  • "Check User Agent" - enable/disable checks of HTTP_USER_AGENT variable prior to sending each page.
  • "Check IP Address" - enable/disable checks of SESSION_IP_ADDRESS variable prior to sending each page. If this option is set to 'true', AOL users will probably be unable to use the store.
  • "Prevent Spider Sessions" - is this check box is set to 'true', then no sessions will be created for agents (HTTP_USER_AGENT) specified in spiders.txt.
  • "Recreate Session" - this option enables reestablishment of a session (obtaining of a new SESSION_ID) when user logs into the system or creates a new account.

Close Store

Here you can temporarily close the store: users will see a page advising them that the store is temporarily closed.
